Design One is an exhibition initiative of Sahachari Foundation Events that encourages talent and raises funds to support various NGOs, and in the process giving back to society. Sahachari Foundation supports deserving NGOs in the areas of education, healthcare, social-economic upliftment and promotion of the Arts, by raising funds through a calendar of events throughout the year.
The fashion industry also provides employment to weavers, block printers, embroiderers, etc., helping to sustain their livelihood as well their craft and skills. Design One is the Foundation’s flagship event. Last year the exhibition had approx 15000 footfalls and this year owing to the size of the exhibition there could be much more. Around 180 exhibitors will participate.
The exhibition caters to everyone’s needs; be it house-wives, business women, working professionals, brides looking for the convenience of trousseau shopping, regular party-goers and those who want to stock up on give-aways and gifts, it has something for every person.
There are statement pieces in contemporary jewellery, belts, shoes, scarves and stoles, not unveiled on the catwalk. This time, the exhibition will showcase the stylish creations of Atsu, Amrich, Anushka Khanna, Maya Parikh, Nipa Badiani. Priya Parikh, Ruh, Vivek Karunakaran, Vizyon, Maneesha Ruia, Vrisa and Translate, etc. Also available is a collection of couture accessories: handbags and clutches for casual and evening wear, ranging from the bohemian to the classy, and footwear for every occasion.Â
You will also find hand-crafted jewellery studded with diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones from Rei Jewels, Begani Jewels and Falguni Mehta. Also discover contemporary collections of Nandita Jhaveri, Suhani Pittie and Rima Jain.Â
Design One exhibition is taking place in the city on 3 and 4 September at Indoor Stadium, NSCI, Worli.Â
Sahchaari Foundation was started by Gauri Pohoomul five and a half years back. There are around 17 members who plan, organise and execute the exhibitions around different cities. Launched in September 2009, Design One exhibitions are now arranged two or three times in a year, in different cities within India and overseas.
