Gone are the days of Indian supermodel. Remember Madhu Sapre, who was a rage with the masses? Her perfectly chiseled body and an envious face scorched the ramp in the 90s. Let’s not forget that Aishwarya Rai was the most sought after model before she became a Bollywood heartthrob. But Indian fashion scene has changed since then. Now designers get into frenzy to sign up a Bollywood beauty for their shows. The very first question asked is, “who is the Bollywood showstopper?” The allure of Indian supermodel has faded since long. But Max, a division of Lifestyle International (P) Ltd., is trying to revive the lost glory of Indian supermodel and trying to scout talent across the country who can represent India at an international level. They want an Indian face to be listed among the elite club of supermodels and carve a place in the international fashion scene. That’s why they have collaborated with the world-famous model agency Elite who have promoted faces like Cindy Crawford, Adriana Lima, Gisele Bündchen among others. Not many Indian supermodels have found the international recognition other than Ujjwala Raut, Lakshmi Menon and a few others. Max is trying to break this mold.

Speaking about the event, Designer Narendra Kumar said, “Elite brings a greater international focus to Indian fashion which is desperately needed at a time when Bollywood has consumed the industry.  An elite Indian supermodel would also put India on the global fashion map.”

All the best Rinku and Vijaya! Hope you make India proud and win the finals.
