Lavasa Women’s Drive always garners a lot of support from the celebs every year. It is to support women afflicted with cancer. Free cancer detection camps and workshops have been held for the economically under-privileged women from villages at Lavasa and other remote villages in Maharshtra with the help of funds raised by this event. Till date around 60 celebrities have witnessed the drive. In the sixth year of Lavasa Women’s Drive, the event saw support from Elli Avram (Salman’s current heartthrob), Kunal Kapoor, Ashmit Patel and Manish Paul (Mickey Virus fame) at the Mumbai flag off and actor Purab Kohli, Kirti Kulhari and Miss India Earth 2011 Hasleen Kaur at the Pune flag off. Her recent movie ‘Karle Pyar Karle’ didn’t do much at the box office but she certainly gathered a lot of fans at the event.

2000 women participated in this year’s rally from both Mumbai & Pune. Their cars were labeled/decorated with strong social messages like ‘When life kicks you, let it kick you forward’, ‘Fight like a girl’ and ‘Together we can make a difference’ inspiring many to fight back the dreaded disease. The message behind this rally is to spread awareness among people about early detection of cancer which can help fight this disease. In all 350 cars were flagged off from Mumbai. The participants dressed in exclusively designed T shirts were seen driving a range of cars to compete and raise awareness for a social cause. The Lavasa Women’s Drive campaign will culminate on March 8 with the awards ceremony in Mumbai to honour the winners.

Fashion trends of the celebs at the flag off in both the cities were casual and minimalistic. Of course, no one was expecting them to be all dressy at 7 am flag off. Kunal Kapoor and Purab Kohli kept it very causal, appearing in denim trousers, plain tee, white shirt and casual jackets.  Ashmit Patel was also seen in causal tee and denim trousers, sporting stubble and a cap. While Manish Paul appeared his usual peppy-self in slim-fit navy blazer, black v-neck tee and khaki trousers. He sported a clean shaven look with trendy shades. Hasleen Kaur appeared in emerald green tee and black jeans with an unflattering stole (not expected from a Miss india) but the most glamorous of all was Elli Avram, who appeared in a printed jumpsuit. She had minimal accessories yet looked gorgeous in her dress.
