After Rihanna sported a dark blue lipstick a couple of months back, it has become a style statement for fashionistas world over. Similar trend was seen at WIFW where models used navy, deep maroon, black lipstick to create an impactful look. This look can be easily adapted to your regular style. You can wear navy or black lipstick with a pair of denims as well an evening dress. The only catch is that the over-all look should suggest hip and cool. Just ensure that your eyes stay as natural as possible so avoid using dark eye-shadows. Dark lipstick looks good with bold and pronounced eye brow. To create this look, just prep your skin with a foundation or BB cream of your choice. Fill the brows with brow gel or eye pencil to make it look bold and pronounced. Use mascara to open up your eyes. Use a dark lip liner to line the lips and fill them with the navy or black color lipstick. This look goes best with matte finish lipstick. If you see extra cream or gloss on your lips, just bloat it with a napkin. Brands like Ana Sui, Channel, NYX and many others have black lipstick in their collection.

White eye-liner

Lakme recently launched the Eyeconic White eye-liner. And with that putting white eye-liner has become the latest trend. Though, white eyeliner has been used by the make-up artists since ages to make the eyes look bigger and create a Bambi wide-eyed look. WIFW saw the perfect use of white eye-liner on the ramp where the models were trying to keep their makeup subtle. White eye-liner looks great with a winged black liner on the top lashes. Just use it like a regular kajal on the tear-line to open up the eyes and make them look fresh and bigger. Brands like NYX, Maybelline and others have white-eyeliner in their product line. White eye-liner is also used under the brow to highlight the brow bone. You can use it towards the inner corner of the eyes to make your eyes look wide-set.

Metallic eye-shadows

Metallics ruled the ramp. Not only with the fabrics but with the makeup as well. Silver, gold, bronze, and several metallic hues were seen during the event. But what caught our attention was the use of metallic eye shadow used in the inner corners of the eyes along with very subtle makeup. Lips were kept natural, flesh pink or nude. The eyebrows were made bold and the eyes were highlighted with muted colors like browns, greys, etc. along with metallic eye-shadows. This look can be easily used in day-to-night makeup. Just add pearl finish or metal finish eye shadow to your day-time brown smokey eye and you are ready to rock the party. Metallic eye shadows easily glam up your face. As the other factors are kept natural, so it doesn’t look over-the-top. It can be used both during day-time and night makeup. Brands like Lakme, Stila, NYX, Bobby Brown and many others have metallic eyeshadows in their product line.

Chin Bindi/stick-on tattoo

Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week

Chin stick-on tattoo is the next fashion statement from the tribal influenced makeup after temple bindis. This look is for the bold and fierce. It will look best with edgy accessories like ear cuffs, feather jewellery or tribal print dresses. The mantra to keep the look elegant is by keeping other makeup subtle. Again, bold brows add to the look but other makeup like eyes, lips, cheeks, etc. need to be kept understated. To make this look even more dramatic, put double winged eyeliner and you will certainly garner a lot of attention. To create a chin bindi without stick-on-tattoo, you can use liquid black eye pen. The same pen can be used to create winged eye-liner. Lakme, Revlon and many other brands have liquid pen eyeliner in their product line.

Grey smokey eyes

Grey is the new black in the smokey eye world. If you are tired of sporting raccoon like eyes in black smokey eyes then go for subtle colors like greys and browns to create a smokey eye. It looks good with summer colors and light fabrics. Pink glossy lips look best with grey smokey eyes. You can wear this look in both night and day.

So, we see that the makeup trend for summer is understated, soft, muted colors where eyebrows and eyes have been given a prominent space. Which trend you going to try out this summer?
