Kareena Kapoor Khan looked resplendent in a Sabyasachi ensemble during the Lakme Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016 closing show. She was cheered on by her family during the show, especially by sister Karishma Kapoor. Her pregnancy glow definitely illuminated the collection, which is also called ‘Illuminate’ by Sabyasachi. She is the second pregnant showstopper in the history of Lakme Fashion Week. Last season model Carol Gracias started this trend.
The Grand finale show was at the mega Mehboob studios. The added bonus was the performance by the Symphony Orchestra of India. The show was grand and the designs spelt grandeur.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s designs have been loved and admired for the way they celebrate India’s rich heritage through exceptional handloom and craftsmanship. The collection included sportswear, a first from Sabya, along with lush fabrics weaved into salwar suits, kurtas and sarees all infusing a striking shimmer twist. I also saw bejeweled micro mini dresses that are perfect for the upcoming festive and cocktail season. The muted autumn colours ruled the collection.
‚ÄúBeing at Lakm√© Fashion Week always feels like a beautiful walk down memory lane, given this is where I made my debut in fashion! It‚Äôs an honour to be the Grand Finale designer once again and working with an inspiring brand like Lakm√©. I have thoroughly enjoyed creating this collection inspired by the ‚ÄėIlluminate‚Äô statement‚ÄĚ, said¬†Sabyasachi. Kareena¬†was thrilled to be a part of this show. She added, “I love his designs and wear them often, and his creations for the illuminate collection are simply fabulous. Lakm√© and Sabyasachi are the ultimate combination to have on a runway and I am glad to be a part of this!‚ÄĚ
The entire collection was breathtakingly beautiful. Brides to be can take a cue from the designs showcased in this collection as it included both traditional drapes as well as modern take on our heritage. Loved it! Ideal for a modern day princess look.
