Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014 – trend alert – rock chic, Goth, leather and bling

Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014 had a lot of Goth elements which can be easily emulated in real-life to jazz up the everyday rock-chic look. Rock-chic is for the bold, the care-free, the powerful, and the risk-taker. Lakme Fashion Week had us asking for more as we saw a lineup of jewelled studded bustiers, leather bustiers, leather gowns, leather gloves, androgynous silhouettes, gold chains and bling, ox blood color lipstick, smokey eyes, sheer and brocade fabric and other elements which made a lot of statement during the event and can inspire our day-to-day fashion choices. Mumbaigloss selected a few of the style inspirations which can help you to dress-up for an evening out or simply make a mark during the day. Beware! You might turn a lot of heads in your direction.

The first of the style-to-do list is jeweled bustier. Sourabh Kant Srivastava’s studded jeweled bustier or similar can be worn with palazzo pants or floor length skirts. You can keep it all black or try to break the monochrome with bold jeweled tones like ruby red, turquoise blue, amethyst purple, etc. It is a showstopper and will add up to your glam quotient effortlessly.

The unique blend of brocade black skirt with black tank and leather accessories showcases a perfect fusion of east meets west. Tarun Tahiliani dress is ideal when you are going out with friends in the evening. The flowing skirt and tank top is airy enough for a summer evening yet is edgy. It can be easily manipulated into an ethnic wear if the tank top is replaced with a spaghetti strap blouse and matching odhni.

Nikhil Thampi’s brown leather gown took the rock-chic to a new level. It spells poise, yet is fierce. It is perfect for an evening which needs you to be at the centre of all attention. The centre slit along with the jeweled waist belt glams up the rugged leather perfectly.

Jabong Street Style’s skater dress is figure accentuating. If you have boyish body shape then use it to create a waist. The contrasting colorful sling bag and boots along with Goth makeup also add to the edginess of this ensemble.

Androgynous fits as seen in Valliyan by Nitya Arora are other ways to create a rock-chic look. Add a little bling to glam up the garb.

I personally liked the silver trousers and black tank top covered with a dress made from black sheer fabric as seen in Ashdeen collection. The concept is sexy and can be easily adapted to everyday fashion. It can be worn during the day as well as the evening. The sheer garment covering the basic trousers and top gives a structure to the apparel. It is edgy but very feminine.
