Perizad Zorabian, Paresh Rawal and Mumbai Police Commissioner expected to come for ‘Alibaba’

“Khul ja sim sim” – those magical words which made Alibaba get rich overnight is a popular story known since generations. The mystery of the magical den, the ruthless bunch of 40 thieves, the greediness of Kasim and the bravery of the slave girl Marjina makes this story a timeless entertainer. Though, many of us love this story because of the get-rich-quick theme.

Hollywood and Bollywood, both have recreated the magic of Alibaba on screen with best-of-the-class special effects. But if you are old school like me and love the world of theatre then you definitely cannot miss this play. Alibaba- A timeless musical classic (in Hindi) will be staged on 12th April, 2015 at Tata Theatre, NCPA in Mumbai. The play is presented by the theatre group Anandam which is one of the oldest theatre groups in Mumbai and has been performing since 1979.

All proceeds from this play will be donated in the aid of cancer patients and cancer research. During the last decade Anandam was able to donate more than Rs. 44 Lakhs to various charitable organizations supporting the cause.

The unique part about this group is that most of the actors are not professional artists but people like you and me who want to contribute to the society. The team comprises of people from various professional backgrounds like CAs, Engineers, Professors, Bureaucrats, etc. They also have a few actors who are from film and TV background. But most of them are amateurs.
