Rekha was Amitabh’s wife in past life – Bollywood & reincarnation

I was watching old Bollywood hit last night called ‘Karz’ – tale of rebirth and revenge by Rishi Kapoor against Simi Grewal, his wife of previous life and his murderer when it just struck me that Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Rekha have been mentioned in a book called ‘Born Again’ by Dr Walter Semkiw where he has listed their reincarnation stories. Bollywood has churned out many hits with the theme of reincarnation. In fact not only Bollywood, even Hollywood is smitten by this concept of rebirth. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta aka Lady Gaga confirmed in an interview that she strongly believes in the concept of rebirth and believes that in her past life she was her father’s sister. I know the skeptics will condemn it and the superstitious will blow it out of proportion. Even Time magazine ran a story on Near Death Experiences (NDE), a phenomenon often quoted by believers of reincarnation as scientific proof for reincarnation. But is reincarnation a reality or plain fiction? Let’s find out.

reincarnation

In a recent interview child prodigy Tathagata Tulsi, who became IIT professor at 22, said, “Sometimes, things seem like superstition because we can’t see the science behind them.”

Past-life study is a science which is yet being questioned and researched upon. Second World Congress on Regression and Past-Life Therapy was held in New Delhi in 2009 when Dr. Walter Semkiw, a practicing medical doctor in the U.S., launched his book amongst a lot of debate. He said that reincarnation is not just a belief but part of spirituality. According to him spiritualism is as scientific as biology, physics and chemistry. We are a living proof of science. Whatever is happening in the outside Universe, it is also happening within us. Whatever is universe composed of, our body is also composed of the same elements and there is a universal law which is working within us.  So how can spirituality be different than science?

He believes that by making others believe in reincarnation, he will bring a change in the attitude of people who discriminate on the basis of caste, creed, sex and religion. He says, “The premise is simple enough: If we all realise that we may return to this world as a person of the opposite sex, belonging to another religion, country, race, etc., we would realise we are all one and not persecute each other.” Reincarnation means that we can change species, race, religion, gender and religious affiliation from lifetime to lifetime. Once people realize that religious, ethnic and national affiliation constitutes a temporary belief system, that one can be a Hindu in one lifetime and a Muslim in another, then conflicts based on these affiliations will be seen as self-defeating.

Reincarnation provides a very logical explanation for the phenomenon of child prodigies, a soul that contains knowledge, talent and artistic style from prior lives that can download this talent into the body of a child. Otherwise, how a 2 year old can paint like a professional or make music like a master? Thousands of cases of children’s past life memories have been documented by various researchers from around the world. Some children are recorded describing their past life residence and recognized family members by name and even successfully passed tests set by the identified family. You can read true-life accounts of such children in the book ‘30 most convincing cases of reincarnation’ by Trutz Hardo. What is remarkable here is that in most cases, the children appear to have no incentive, financial or otherwise, to make such claims. In India, Dr. Satwant Pasricha, Head of Dept. of Clinical Psychology, now working in Dept. of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Bangalore, has investigated and participated in about 500 cases of reincarnation involving children since 1973.

(Buddhia Singh Marathoned in Orissa at five; little Srinivas of Tamil Nadu played difficult classical tunes on mandolin at the age of four explaining to a spell bound audience the concept of each note (raga)? Upasna, a four year old, living in a remote village of UP claimed that her real name was Kalpana Chawla, the astronaut who died in the skies in 2003 in the US space shuttle crash. She graphically narrated to her illiterate parents details of her journey in the space shuttle and how she died in the crash. To every one’s surprise, she also mentioned the name of Kalpana’s father. She claims that the spacecraft was hit by a huge ball of ice that sent it crashing and ended her life. Upasana was born barely two months after the astronaut’s death in 2003.)

According to Dr. Semkiw, JK Rowling was Charles Dickens in previous birth and Michael Jackson was the reincarnation of 15th century musician Charles Dassoucy, an associate of the French playwright Moliere. While Jackson was crowned the King of Pop, Dassoucy was referred to as the Emperor of Entertainers. “Apart from having similar facial features and personality traits, the linguistic writing style remains the same,” says Semkiw in his book. So what does he have to say about our Bollywood stars and their reincarnation?

Dr. Semkiw says that Amitabh Bachchan is the reincarnation of Edwin Booth (1833-1893), an American who was considered one of the finest Shakespearian actors of his times. Bachchan has been described as a gifted actor in a Shakespearian way. Amitabh Bachchan, not only shares a love for acting with his supposed past life persona of Edwin Booth, but also has similar personality traits, which have been passed on from one lifetime to another. Incidentally, Edwin Booth was the brother of John Wilkins Booth, who is infamous in history as the man who shot Lincoln, although Edwin himself was determinedly apolitical, saying that politics simply did not suit him. Amitabh Bachchan also prefers staying away from politics.

Edwin Booth’s first wife was Mary Devlin, an actress who met him, when they were cast in the lead roles of “Romeo and Juliet.” Mary Devlin died two years after they were married. She has reincarnated as Rekha who has played leading lady in many of Amitabh’s movies and is said to be in love with the actor since long. In fact, while playing the protagonist in Umrao Jaan, Rekha once reflected that somewhere she felt that she is a reincarnation of Umrao Jaan, and that she was a courtesan in her past life. Umrao Jaan was an 18th century dancer and courtesan who fell in love with her patron but her love remained unrequited. Her real life also shows her as an enigmatic beauty who is jilted in love. And if you see, in most of her movies, she has played this character aesthetically and convincingly. (Be it Utsav, Umrao Jaan or Kamasutra).

Shahrukh Khan is a reincarnation of Sadhona Bose. According to Semkiw’s book, Shah Rukh Khan is the reincarnation of popular Bengali dancer and actor Sadhona Bose. Sadhona, a dancer and actress, starred in a few films of the 1930s and 40s. She could not only perform Indian classical but was also good in ballet. Her most successful movie Raj Nartaki released in 1941. But stardom didn’t last long and she was eventually reduced to begging. But her soul came back to achieve stardom through ‘King Khan’.  Shahrukh was inclined towards theatre and acting since early in life. He earned a Masters degree in film and journalism and used to take dance classes with Barry John. Barry says, “His ability to mime and clown, his dancing skills and his gymnastics skills were remarkable. “ A gift, which was passed on to him from his previous life.  May be, it’s also got something to do with his inclination towards Kolkata and forming team KKR in the IPL series.

A video – Evidence on Reincarnation – includes real life incidents

There are several other cases in India which have been documented in various studies, books and medical records. The belief in past-life is also part of major scriptures and religions across the world but science needs proof and there is much to prove in this field. Till then these stories will just float around to entertain the masses and instill an idea of Karma and Karmic relation, which might help a few of us to leave our arrogance, our prejudices and our strong opinions aside and practice humanity. You never know, you might be born again.
