Summer dresses from Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2015 that I want to wear

Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2015 got over yesterday. And it left a mixed feeling for fashion lovers like me. On one hand the event got over successfully bringing forth few talented designers and their designs to the industry and on the other hand it saddened a few as many fashion designers repackaged the old and didn’t innovate something new. Satya Paul by Gauri khan was a big let-down. The collection was based on tropical plants but was very run of the mill and average. I feel Gauri Khan should have taken time to dwell on this collection. But let me not mull over it now. I hope the next season has some great designs and fashion ideas which can be implemented at a large scale.

Here are my picks of top 11 dresses that I would want to wear as my everyday fashion staple. These have been presented during this fashion week and this list will help you choose the trendiest ensembles for yourself, next time you go shopping.

1. Neha Agarwal is definitely my favourite designer this season. Her dresses are trendy and very much wearable off the ramp. The bright prints of Russian Babooshka dolls and florals just made these dresses look so interesting. The base colours remain pastels which is ideal for summers.

2. Another Neha Agarwal dress that I would love to wear is the one recently worn by actor Tapasee Pannu. This has bright prints and happy colours. The lemon yellow is oh-so-summery. The floor grazing asymmetric hemline makes it stand out from the crowd.

3. This tiled bird print dress by Mandira Bedi is another favourite of mine. It is light, airy and has beautiful interplay of pastel and bright colours. The net detail at the collarbone area adds to its appeal. Ideal for summer brunch. It looks sporty-chic and well-toned arms can be easily flaunted in this dress.

4. Suneet Varma’s flowy massive anarkali in a deep purple colour with golden gota work just blew mind away. The net arms with floral embroidery for the blouse makes it a good summer evening wear. This looks so chic in Indian wear segment.

5. Another Suneet Varma dress which I would like to wear is this little number that has floral print with beautiful mirror work on it. The western wear inspired by the gorgeous traditional motifs and crafts of Gujarat and Rajasthan makes it look special.

6. The Pankaj and Nidhi dress is a good option if you want to look polished for a summer afternoon. The light fabric jacket and skirt in traditional Iznik pottery of Turkey, looks fresh and can be easily adapted from a day to night look.

7. VERANDAH BY ANJALI showcased fusion of edgy and soft, shapes and florals on a light background. This jumpsuit from the collection is very good for summer evenings. Throw in a light denim jacket to this jumpsuit to add some drama.

8. Divya Sheth’s coat dresses can be added to the list of power dressing. Well-tailored coat dresses made with light fabrics in military shades can look neat for a summer evening. Hopefully, the muted earthy prints make them look different from parkas.

9. This dress made from mulmul, a light and soft fabric was presented during Harper Bazaar’s textile show and has all the elements to make it a glamorous choice for a summer wear. I loved its intricate cut work.
