Top 5 showstoppers at India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) 2014

Last week was pretty busy for Mumbaigloss as it attended India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) 2014 between 14-17July at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. This once a year show is the most awaited by the Indian gems and jewellery industry as top designers and companies showcase their craft to the masses. This year there were many celeb show stoppers such as Parineeti Chopra, Sridevi, Shraddha Kapoor, Sunny Leone, Raveena Tandon, Kalki Koechlin, Yami Gautam, Esha Gupta, Neha Dhupia, Amisha Patel, etc. adding the oomph factor to IIJW 2014. The closing ceremony was presented by Bipasha Basu and IIJW brand ambassador Sonam Kapoor. No one can beat Sonam Kapoor when it comes to making a style statement. But apart from her, the ones who created immense flutter for the shutterbugs are my top 5 showstoppers from the event.

Sonam Kapoor, Neeta Lulla, IIJW 2014

1. Director/actor/model Divya Khosla of T-Series and Yaarian fame stopped the show with her electrifying entry wearing a grand three-strand pearl necklace and a diamond choker, lace cuffs and rings for PN Gadgil. She created a look like Katy Perry and was extremely playful on the ramp. She might not be regular on the runway but she certainly stirred a lot of interest. Divya Khosla, Bhushan Kumar, T Series

2. Chitrangada Singh, Bollywood’s glamorous diva made a lovely showstopper for Moni Agarwal presented by Solitaire Gemological Laboratories. She looked beautiful in her desi avatar. Her nose ring garnered a lot of fan following; a new trend, which we might soon see on the high-street fashion radar. She walked the ramp wearing a dazzling Raani Haar, studded diamond collar, intricate cummerbund, nose ring, Haath Phool and bracelet from the collection.

The evergreen actress walked the ramp wearing a regal diamond Raani Haar with a grand square gleaming pendant, matching earrings, bracelet and ring. Vijay and Rupali Golecha couldn’t have found a better showstopper for their collection which is a good balance between vintage and modern.

5. Sunny Leone opened the show for Apala by Sumit Sawhney to showcase his collection ‘The Royal Tribe’ in an opulent Victorian neckpiece with elements of the Hasli with gold claws adding the tribal touch to it. Bringing extra drama was the rear piece with an amazing wreath effect in jade along with beautiful anklets and head piece. Sunny Leone, IIJW 2014, Apala by Sumit Sawhney
