With wedding season around the corner, many brides and grooms to-be can be seen struggling to get their fittest and stunning best. They can be seen trying hard to reduce weight, getting a natural glow to their skin as well as a clear complexion. And why shouldn’t they, after all it’s a once in a lifetime event where they are showered with all the attention.

For a fitter body, glowing skin and lustrous hair:

• It is important to eat light dinners such as a bowl of soup, sautéed vegetables or salads with a protein source such as chicken or paneer made from skimmed milk. Vegetables and salads provide vitamins to bring glow to your skin. The roughage helps to clear up the bowels which help to get clear skin. Protein helps to build and repair new cells and is much effective while the body is taking rest.

• Eat protein in each meal such as egg whites or skim curd to keep the metabolic rate high. This helps to burn fat.

• Eat nuts such as almonds, peanuts, walnuts, etc. as snacks to keep the body charged up in between the bigger meals. This revs up your metabolic rate.

• Increase the intake of fruits and vegetable juices such as dudhi or carrot and pumpkin juice for its high antioxidant content for accelerating fat loss and getting a supple and smooth skin.

• It is important to stay hydrated through increased intake of skim buttermilk and mint lime water and green tea. Drink at least 3 litres of water every day (which includes the above mentioned) to get the toxins out from the body. It also helps you to curb your appetite, keeps you feeling full for longer which aids in weight loss.

• Eat increased portions of complex carbohydrates such as oats, quinoa, bajra, jowar than eating starchy carbohydrates like white rice, maida, etc.

•Minimize sugar intake in the diet as sugar in the form of sweets will be consumed more frequently. Replace sugar in tea, coffee, mocktails, etc. with stevia plant substitute or equivalent.

• Do not deprive yourself. You can keep a cheat meal where you can indulge in moderation. It is easy to get tempted with all the buffet spreads but stick to cheating only two to three times as to keep up with the goal. It is important to plan your cheat meals in advance. If you know that you are going to eat dinner at a fast food joint then keep the rest of the day for nutritious and balanced food.

•Exercise 5 times a week with a combination of cardio and strength training to keep up with occasional indulgences. Weight training will enhance the body tone while cardio will accelerate fat loss.

• Supplement diet with Vitamin C and Vitamin E pills such as Celin and Evion and Omega3 fats for better skin and lustrous hair. Acaiberry or Grapeseed extract can be used to further enhance skin glow and Biotin for hair shine.

• Another important aspect is consumption of alcohol. Kindly stick to 30 ml or 60 ml of hard drink and one glass of wine in a day. Ensure that you drink enough water after consuming alcohol to flush out the toxins.
